Whitney Thomas is the founder and managing attorney of Whitney Thomas Law Firm, a San Antonio-based practice focused on probate administration, estate planning, guardianship, and estate-related litigation. She is known for her hands-on approach, practical problem-solving, and commitment to guiding clients through complex legal processes with clarity and confidence.
Whitney regularly represents executors, administrators, heirs, beneficiaries, and proposed guardians, and she offers limited-scope representation options for streamlined probate matters, including muniment of title proceedings. She is also a frequent presenter in the San Antonio community on probate and estate law topics and is deeply committed to access to justice and professional leadership.
Johnny W. Thomas
Of Counsel
Johnny W. Thomas serves as Of Counsel to Whitney Thomas Law Firm, bringing decades of legal experience across state, federal, military, and appellate courts. His career spans complex court proceedings, fiduciary oversight, and bankruptcy administration, providing invaluable depth and perspective to the firm’s probate and court-intensive matters.
Mr. Thomas has served as a Trustee for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Texas since 1995 and is admitted to numerous state and federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court. As Of Counsel, he supports complex legal analysis, procedural strategy, and matters that benefit from seasoned courtroom and judicial experience.

Legal Administrative Assistant
Laura Alvarado is the Legal Administrative Assistant at Whitney Thomas Law Firm. With a Master’s in Paralegal Studies and years of experience in both federal and private practice, she brings strong skills in case management, client communication, and legal support. Her background includes working with the U.S. Attorney’s Office and private law practices, where she assisted with legal research, drafting, and trial preparation.
Now permanently based in San Antonio, Laura is passionate about organization, accuracy, and excellent client service. Having supported her family through multiple military relocations, she values stability and understands the importance of guiding clients through life’s transitions with compassion. She takes pride in helping families feel supported and cared for during each step of the legal process.
